Storyboarding Guidelines

Keep the lines clean, make a few drafts and discuss with the team since the final cut may or may not build up from your boards

We are one of the first steps of making the movie, so we should keep things simple, eg; not going overboard with storyboards, so that animators can understand

We will use arrows to indicate motion of the camera i.e, zooming in and and out, and whatnot.

Text is written or typed on the lines provided next to the main storyboard and they are there to show what you mean by any arrows and dialogue , we use red for effect such as shaking. Grey will indicate the position of the camera with respect to the story and VFX and black is used for writing dialogue. Use any shade of green to tell the motion of character , background like walking , blink of eyes , u should get the picture.

ALSO, MAKE SURE YOUR TEXT (IF HANDWRITTEN IS LEGIBLE!!!)

Don't use more than 1-3 layers, since there's a chance your scene might be deleted. You can use any program of your choice!

Do not feel afraid to deviate from the original script, since it will most likely not include camera effects and transitions.

You can use your imagination, your goal is to make the script POP, not just write/draw whatever it says.

EXAMPLE: Suppose there's a scene of exploding TNT, you can indicate impact frames to add to make the scene pop, instead of just a still camera showing the explosion.

Try to stay close to the designs the character designers provide, whenever they do.

Use block figures (cubes instead of a stick figure ) and include where the shadows 

might be positioned .

While drawing VFX, draw what you want and make sure it doesn't ruin the continuity! Make sure to note down the VFX you drew beside the board in grey.
